My Path to Islam
My path to Islam was quite unexpected. I met a young Muslim woman. She kept telling me how clean and peaceful she felt when she attended the mosque and how worshipping Allah brought her peace. I was desperately seeking a faith that brought me peace, I realize I was making a huge decision and a change in my former way of life.
I converted one year ago and I believe Islam is the place for me. I eargerly looked forward to Jumah every Friday. I have a tutor to guide me in the proper way of living an Islamic life. I am so grateful for finding my way to Allah. I believe Allah is the only God and I read the quran daily.
How I Did It:
I converted at a beautiful mosque and was surrounded by many sisters who welcomed me into Islam. I read the Quran, the hadiths, and the qudsi hadiths for guidance. I struggled at first with the five obligatory prayers, but as soon as I remember I make up the prayers. When I attend Jumah on Friday I leave feeling happy and at peace with my life.
When I read the Quran I often find something in the Surah I'm reading that opens my eyes; it appears it was meant for me and is very soothing for me. When I have questions about my faith I call my tutor or speak to one of the older sisters at my mosque. I love being a Muslim and would never turn back. I will continue to remain a Muslim no matter what the world thinks of me. I wear the traditional clothing everyday despite what others may think. I have been truly blessed by becoming a Muslim. Ensha'Allah my life will continue to grow in Islam.
