Hijab in French Schools
In the interests of equality and state secularism, the French government has imposed a legal ban on all "conspicuous religious symbols" in public schools. The ban outlaws hijab (Islamic headscarves), Jewish headcoverings, large crucifixes, and other visible signs of faith.
