Note:  One of the benefits of Ramadan is that fasting Muslims feel sympathy towards the poor and those who go hungry throughout the year.  The focus of Ramadan should be on spiritual growth and discipline, not on preparing elaborate gourmet meals to enjoy at the end of the day.  Muslims during Ramadan, as well as throughout the year, should "eat to live, not live to eat."  Nevertheless, there are some traditional dishes that Muslims throughout the world enjoy during this special time.  References are listed here as a resource for a variety of dishes, to be used in moderation.
