The traditional
Palestinian headdress has become a symbol of support for the Palestinian
people against the Israeli occupation. From political rallies to
talk shows, supporters of the Palestinian cause have begun donning this
traditional scarf as a show of solidarity. The scarf itself is
known commonly as the "kuffiyeh," but may also be called the "hatta"
or the "yashmagh."
Where to Buy One
If you are interested in wearing a scarf
to show your solidarity with the Palestinian people, here are some
online sources for purchasing one. Some stores offer a choice of
color. The Palestinian scarf is traditionally black and white; red
and white is common in other countries, such as Saudi Arabia.
