As the proud mother of two girls, I am particularly sensitive to those ignorant people who somehow believe that girls are not as special as boys. In Islam, all children are a blessing and a gift, but in some cultures boys are especially desired and doted upon.  The Arab News published a reminder about this today, in their article "Daughters: A Matter of Pride."  Quoting from the Quran, and giving examples from the hadith, the author dispels the myth that boys are superior to girls in Islam.

I agree strongly with you, only wish if more people(Muslims) knew these things because they represent Islam to others.

Thanks for the sharing the information. in most situations the parents are angry having a new-born daughter and in my country they usualy have a very strong argument. but in my mind it does not matter whether it is son or daughter and the main is having a child is the God’s gift to us. May Allah bless you all and keeps from devil!

Thank you. Like my mother says, if I could I would give girls to every mother. For me,Elhamdulilah my two girls are my future, and my friends. May Allah swa give us the right path no matter boys or girls. We should learn more about things.

Over the years, I have felt concern for you and your family. Inshallah, you will be pleased with the future of your daughters and they will get good educations, and find husbands who truly know to treat their wives with dignity and kindness.
