H1N1 Effects on Pilgrimage Travel
This year, the annual Hajj will fall in November -- right at the beginning of flu season.
So far, Saudi authorities have resisted any travel bans. They cite the country's preparation and expertise in disease control, and insist that they are well-prepared to control the spread of the virus. Aside from the H1N1 virus, there is always potential for disease outbreaks when such large numbers of people gather, and there have been no disease threats among pilgrims in recent years.
Today, pilgrim traffic in Mecca is the same as usual, with groups arriving from Malaysia, Turkey, Iran, and many other countries. A few wear face masks during the pilgrimage rites, but otherwise it seems to be life as usual in Mecca.

Which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? Allah (swa) invites whom He wills to his House. Inshallah, if something is meant for you, there is nothing that can prevent it, so why would anyone delay or rearrange the Journey of a Lifetime with Allah’s (swa) invitation????????
I agree with Shakera Begum upto a point. Saudi Govt stand is the right step.
The people going to Haj should take a Tamiflu (Flue Vaccination) and all other precautions necessary.
Allah(SWA)has given us the wisdom & knowledge to help ourselves & others.
May Haj 2009 be better than the previous ones,
Amen.
I think people shouldn’t delay, you never know if you will be able to go for pilgrimage next season. And getting dieses is from Allah wheather during pilgrimage or at your country.
question of delaying the journey does not exist at all , but we all need to abide by the traditions of the holy prophet may peace and blessing of ALLAH be upon him , thats says that if there is a break -out of disease in a country , peoples there should not travel out , and other peoples also should not travel there aslo . a muslim or muslima is a brothers / sisters to one another . and your faith is uncomplette untill you love for your brothers / sisters what you love for your self . so inflicting a desease on fellow muslim is totally unislamic . so whoever knows he / she is having that H1NI must abstain from the journey .so may ALLAH guides us to the right part AMIN
very true
I totally agree with Abdul Mumin .We Muslims should behave responsibly and let those who have planned their haj way in advance by the will of Allah go ahead and perform their rituals peacefully without any undue stress or worry!
salaam,Islam is acomplete way of life and has provided solutions to problems. There is no outbreak of the flu and it is not expected that there will be. There is no strong reason for any one to delay or postpone such a blissful jorney. Abdulmumin @ 4 above is right. Allah (SWTA)clearly stated “Say nothing happens to us what He has decreed to happen to us…..” and the prophet (SAW) said “whatever happens to you, it has not being ordained that you should escape (or missed) it.and whatever U (xcaped)or missed, it was not ordained to happen to U”.
salaam,
correction: mine above refers,
The word “EXCEPT” was mistakenly ommitted from the context of the verse. The verse is “Say nothing happens to us EXCEPT what He has decreed (or written) to happen to us”. May Allah forgive our mistakes and shortcomings and give us Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen
its just some disturb consequents for all people, lets think it twice!
I think people shouldn’t delay but people must prepare to keep their health. We must prepare for the best but trust Allah , his protect is the best.
