A Proud Day
Wednesday November 5, 2008
I am an American living overseas, in a part of the world where U.S. foreign policy is very unpopular. I have always said to people here that, "you may not like American policies and government, but the people themselves are hard-working, decent, and open-minded." Today I hold my head high, proud of my compatriots and their willingness... no, DESIRE... to move beyond pettiness and prejudice and hold out hope for a brighter future. Regardless of one's personal choices and politics, the American people today should feel proud that they were able to speak up and make a choice for the future of their country, beyond differences of skin color or heritage, above the climate of fear and mistrust of anyone who is different.
May God guide the leaders of all nations, that they may best serve the world in justice, tolerance, and humility.
