Cartoon Controversy: What Would Muhammad Do?
Sunday February 17, 2008
Two years ago, Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR asked what the Prophet Muhammad would do in response to the Danish cartoon controversy. Have we learned nothing since then? As Danish artists are threatened with death, and newspapers re-print the cartoons to reiterate their commitment to free speech, we must ask whether the reactions and protests of Muslims are in line with the example of the Prophet.

Don’t get angry to those who don’t understand Islam, take a pity on them. They insulted us since they know nothing the truth of Islam. Muhammad always faced these kind of people by wisdom, patience, and prayer. I believe that violence can’t be handled by violence. Let’s face them by peace.
I think Muhummad would laugh it off. What better way to defuse a situation than to make light of it. The responses of some Muslims to something as silly as a cartoon must be an embarrassment to many other followers of this cult.
As Muslims our love for prophet Muhammad SAW is much more than any human being. true we feel deeply hurt, angry etc but at the same time we have to remember our duty is to practice in accordance to the teaching of Al-Quran & hadiths so choose Islam as our way of life & be ashamed if we follow those who has no respect for peoples’ faiths or being mischieves toward humankind
I don’t think Muhammad would kill innocent people and run riot. What a shameful way to behave over cartoons!
This cartoon proves one thing that Muhammad is a Prophet and a wonderful Man, Husband, Father, and Friend.
The Muslim must be like the apple tree, the child throws it by the stone, and the tree gives him an apple.
Compare the cratoon with the incidence of a Juwish lady who used to collect the garbage and throw it over him (The Prophet Mohammed) It happened twice, Companions were furious, as this cannot be a coincidence, and wanted permission to kill her. Third time when the prophet was passing the same way and the garbage was not thrown, he (the prophet) asked the companion to go up and see if she is not sick. This action of the prophet impressed her so much that she accepted Islam The religion of PEACE.
we don’t have to be angry about wat they said just live to allah (sw)
prophet Mohammad(SAW),always say peace to everyone,we love the prophet(SAW),lets the muslim react but according to the word of peace!Let them know it is wrong what did journalist did,but let him know peacefully and lets not destroy or kill for that!Maybe one day the journalist will become a good muslim.Sallam-peace!
I think Muhammed would be patient with them and bear with their insults because he knows that if they knew him then they would love him and his message.
I think the best thing muslims could have done is instead of demonstrating expressing anger and hurt, they could have demonstrated with placards and boards which contain the noble, righteous and gracious messages of the prophet.
Everyone has free mind of speech, BUT, these cartoon drawers, they abuse it and insult our religion. They did it once, they did it again, how pitifully. Still I agree with the comment of Syed Imtiyaz Desnavi:

god’s curse b upon danish cartoonist n their pro minds.even with these filthy acts they cannot stop the record growth of islam.lets muslims prroest peacefully banning all their products.
i pit’y those who do not know nothing about islam and then to make fun and try to ridicule it. their time will come not here but in the here after inshallah.
It is painful a person who do not read about such a person and make cartoon what relse they can do.
Mohamed came to this world as a big school and he has been able to change the life of many others.
We ought to realise and learn rather than to creat unpleasant atmosphire.
We have to learn to be patient and not be easily rattled by the ignorants who see us as a threat. Islam is the fastest growing growing religion in Europe. This shows how attractive and positive Islam is and we must maintain this image of us as much as possible.
The true answer is what the scholars did, they sent a delegation to explain about Islam, and promote understanding.
This article said it clearly… The reaction of violence, only intensified the situation.
As for the final result, if anyone has learned anything, we may never see.
Bismillah.
I believe that YES we should stand up for Islam! and anyone who puts a bad impression on prophet Muhammed and anything to do with Islam, but the way we show that should not be with riots, anger, violence it should be the way Muhammed (pbuh) will handle it. Plus we can’t let people like that get to us cause we as muslims know Islam is the right religion and we should handle matters such as this in a very calm, patient way and leave everything up to Allah, cos only he is the one with the right to judge people and will punish them in this life and after life. ………….asalam alakum.
in the life of prophet mohammed (pbuh) there was a abdulla obi, he was spread bad comments about mohammed (pbuh) such there were 15 persons. but mohammed (pbuh) never ask his companion to take action against him. but allah reveal “ayat ul barat”.
so muslims just answer the catoonist scandle peacefully.
i think the politicians take advantage, and illitrate follow them.
in the life time of our prophet, he him self objected to being canvased because as we know that people will start praying before the photograph leaving Allah behind, christians and hindus are the best living examples of idol worshipers, Mohammed (sws) already knew that a photo or a cartoon will take no time in becoming a idol.and idol worship nothing but worshipping ur own self coz they are man made
I am a Christian, and though we have persecuted others, including Muslims, we too have been persecuted. Violence only causes more violence. I accept Muhammed as a prophet of Allah, just as I do Moses, Paul and Jesus. It is through ignorance that all persecution occurs. True Christianity does not worship three Gods, but only one, the same God Muslims worship. Those Christians who worship Jesus and the Holy Ghost as God are going against what Jesus and Muhammed taught. I look for the day both Muslims and Christians can better understand each other. I think then there will be less stress between us. I believe sites such as this one will help toward that goal. Thank You!
Tom
It is a pity and sad to note the rate at which people of other Religions are constantly insulting the religion of Islam and the Musilims. Why must it always be that muslims are the ones been provoked.I think this is a delibrate attempt to continuelly harass and provoked the Muslims so that if they react in a negetive way ,the western world will condem us.
The religion of Islam means peace and it preaches peace. In as much as we respect other Religions ,we equally desevers some respect so that each can practice his or her religion.FOR YOU,YOUR RELIGION;and FOR US,OUR religion.Enough is enough!
It took me a while to read this msg and true, our Holy Prophet(PBUH) would have laughed it over. The Holy Prophet(PBUH) during his lifetime faced obstacles of an intensity much greater than a foolish cartoon..He had bore them all with patience.ofcourse we shd not encourage others who do not understand the religion,to project the way they wish to but nothing much can be done with people who have already made up their minds…I m at point reminded of a holy verse from the Quran which says,”Practice forgiveness,Command what is right but turn away from the ignorant”
believing in the last day of activities rest in the eyes of the world to judge. the prophet being abuse is voilation of right. the world as at its peak of spiritual destruction it is an unfogivable sin for man to go the lord trial on jugement day which most people believe not unlabel.
Let all muslim wordwide be calm, and embrace peace in the face of this persecution. While the comment of Syed Imtiyaz Desnavi is the most appropriate, that of Tom is highly encouraging.Maa salam
Islam is the religion that preaches PEACE even in the face of persecution. The Al-Quran 73v.10 sums up the whole issue thus”Bear patiently with what they say(against you)and leave their company in a polite manner.” There are more also from the Hadith but for lack of space. What ever the journalist or the Western world may think, its more of our responsibilities not to react negatively but should try and educate those whom you come across in your daily life. Muslims have a lot to do in preaching PEACE. maa Salaam
I ask you all one thing, if these people insulted your very own father and abused them , your mother, still you would accept them , and be patient, you say ALLAH TALLAH will take care of things, its a shame on us , on earth there are millions of muslims , but still this is henous crime is taking place, what are these muslims, ALLAH TALLAH send for.
Its all very clear in the Quran concerning the ill treatment and sarcasm and pain denial of truths by those who chose to live by ignorance on Muhammad the prophet of God. The cartoonic impressions of Muhammad is tantamount to cartooning GOD himself. Just beware God’s wrath. In the Days of the Caliphs, he would resort to converting the cartoonist first then if the cartoonist persists propagating his riduculing GOD,then death is the only option to save others.
